Missing required libraries
Next to the Linux installer link it states that it includes all required libraries but the default configuration requires libcrypto.so.0.9.8 and libssl.so.0.9.8 which can be found in the libssl0.9.8 package in the Ubuntu repository.
See http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4546076/ejabberd-tls-driver-error
Edit: Symbolically linking to the 0.9.7 versions in /opt/ejabberd-2.1.10/lib/linux-x86 also works.

Note like anything there are risks, so it is up to you if you are ok with this. I have no intel Mac, but I have provided the use of my system to developers I felt I could trust.
