Startup failure with 2.1.4 on FreeBSD 8.0

Hi. I'm trying to get ejabberd 2.1.4 running on FreeBSD 8.0 with Erlang R13B04. Compilation and installation goes fine, but initial start up fails with an error message almost identical to: http://www.ejabberd.im/erlang-port_control.

However, I've only ever had this one version of Erlang installed on this system, and if I replace ejabberd 2.1.4 with 2.1.3, it starts up fine.
