ejabberd 15.03 is yet another important release. We have added fixes and some major improvements.

Websocket

Websocket support is among the major new features introduced in this release. You can write speedy XMPP web clients. This web support has been tested on large deployments and is extremely fast, with very low latency.

Easy ejabberd contributed modules install command released in beta

Archipel introduction at ejabberd San Francisco Meetup

ejabberd new documentation site, a community effort

A massive documentation effort

It is well know that every developer in the world love writing docs :)

Well, I am kidding, but still our goal is to have the most comprehensive and beautiful documentation possible for a project. Given the extremely powerful and numerous ejabberd features and the extensive scope of XMPP, I guess you all understand the challenge.

But, we can as a community be up to the tasks. We have bootstrapped a huge documentation effort for ejabberd, but we hope it will also serve as a good reference to learn XMPP.

Revamped ejabberd website, new logo, new development process

Along with that design, we have a new ejabberd logo. The hedgehog is gone and you now have the bubble 'e' with the nice new ejabberd typography.

We hope you will like it :)

This is just the tip of the iceberg. As you may have noticed, the whole process for developing the project itself went through a major rework. To ease collaboration with the community, we moved to Github issues. This was decided for the following reasons:

Paris ejabberd first meetup will take place on the 25th of February, at ProcessOne office in Paris.

Jérôme Sautret will give a quick introduction to ejabberd modules development. Participants will introduce their work and use case for ejabberd.

ejabberd Community 15.02 has been released

ejabberd 15.02 has just been released. This is a major new release. We have added fixes as well as usual improvements.

However, ejabberd 15.02 is mostly a major improvement in the way we are handling our release cycle.

I have published a new repository on Github whose goal is to have a way to have a full featured ejabberd development environment in a few steps.

The project must have all backends running inside a generated and preconfigured VM, so that it is easy to run the test suite against all backends.

ejabberd-contrib repository is ready to get your ejabberd modules

For those who have been programming in Erlang since 16 years like me, you may remember the concept of Jungerl, "a dense and chaotic jungle of Erlang code".

ejabberd-contrib started in somewhat the same spirit a while. However, as ejabberd main code base is evolving at a very fast pace, we need to ensure that users do not lose time trying to make module that have not been updated to the latest version works.

ejabberd adds support for Elixir

We just added official support for Elixir in ejabberd,

You can now develop for ejabberd any type of module with Elixir modern Ruby-inspired syntax. Enjoy !

ejabberd 14.12

We're pleased to announce the last release of ejabberd for 2014! Thanks to contributors, this release includes great improvements and opens road to 2015.

ejabberd Community 14.12 includes many bugfixes, and a few new features:

New module mod_client_state implements XEP-0352: Client State Indication
New module mod_fail2ban to ban IPs that show malicious signs
New option store_empty_body in mod_offline

ejabberd code has been evolving at a tremendous rate during the past year. We have release 5 new versions of ejabberd community edition in a year. We introduced better performance, new support for XMPP extension, change in the build process, better testing to avoid regression.

At the same time we dramatically improved the business edition and used it to build ejabberd Software as a Service platform our most ambitious project to date. All this is a huge amount of work and code produced.
