Help with patch in ERLANG

I aply the patch posted in this thread:

That is for make eJabberd "flash compatible", adding a "\0" at the end of the streams. But something in the patch is closing the socket!, can anyone tell me if there is a workarroud to add the "\0" char to the end of the stream without close the socket?
