Haven't found anything on this topic, but I would like to configure ejabberd to function like gtalk does; meaning logging in from multiple locations are synced up/not booting the user out and a chat log is displayed from earlier conversations. Thanks so much.

This is already supported by XMPP, and ejabberd: login to the same username, but with different resourcename. Or don't provide resource, and ejabberd will assign a random one.

This isn't implemented by ejabberd. It's described in XEP-0136, you can try to install mod_archive for that.
