Error starting ejabberd server on Win XP Pro SP2

I followed the Online instructions on how to install this ejabberd. After launching, the following is what we get:

Abnormal termination

After starting and getting this error message I tried to use my web browser [firefox V. 1.0.7] to attempt to log into the web_admin portion. I received a un- authorized user message using the Login: admin@localhost PASWD: admin.

I also looked into the forums and FAQ's to see if there were any similar issues pertaining to the above error, which there was none, and not being able to log in, which I found several.
I edited ejabberd.cfg and also installed an appropriate client (exodus) as referenced in http://www.ejabberd.im/node/305 and http://www.ejabberd.im/node/334
and still was not able to login to the server as anything.

I realize that the before mentioned error may be contributing to the last stated issue so plz bare with me.

I have this behaviour when

I have this behaviour when the service is started and when I start ejabberd myself via the shortcut in the programs menu.

regards,

Arkadas
